Milling is the process of machining by cutting. The cutting tool is a cutter that performs rotary movements at high speed. The workpiece performs translational motions, less often rotational motions.
With milling, all machinable materials can be machined: aluminum, bronze, brass, steel, stainless steel, titanium, plastics.
The most common operation. The single-point tool moves along the axis of the workpiece to remove material from the surface of the part. It can create different contours such as ladders, cones, etc. Usually, several passes are needed to achieve the final result.
Because of the high precision achieved in turning, limits and fits are usually chosen for the hole system. Achieving tight tolerances with a CNC lathe is easier than doing the same with hole drilling.
Removes a layer of material from the face of the workpiece. Usually the goal is to achieve the desired surface finish. Since the depth of cut should not be too great, it can be done in one pass. The movement of the cutting tool is perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
As with facing, the tool moves perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Instead of cutting the end of the workpiece, a groove is cut somewhere on either side. A single-point turning tool can make a cut in one pass if the kerf is the same width as the tool. Otherwise, several cuts are required.
The name describes this turning operation very accurately. The process itself looks like grooving, but the cutting tool will reach the axis of the part. This means that it cuts off part of the part
Here we are still talking about an external operation. Threading is thus used to thread the surface of the part. The flow specifics can be configured and several passes may be required to achieve the final result.
The first inside operation on this list. Speaking of traditional turning, drilling can be done at the end of the workpiece, right along the axis. Since the workpiece is still rotating, the tool can remain stationary. New CNC turning centers can use movable tooling to make perpendicular holes on sides or other locations.
The opposite of a point. The same functions can only be performed on the inside surface. Boring requires drilling first to make room for inserting tools into the workpiece. From there you can enlarge the opening with single-point cutters and add steps, and chamfers.
Similar to a reamer, this operation requires a pre-drilled hole. A tap enters the existing hole to cut an internal thread.
All turning operations performed by "METMAX" are performed on modern European CNC machining centers, which reduces the probability of scrap to a minimum and ensures that all required dimensions are within appropriate tolerances. And our qualified personnel with more than 5 years of experience is always ready to undertake the most complicated task and produce the first samples within the specified period.
